ISTDP Training and Supervision

Helping you be a more effective therapist...

Supervision

Supervision is offered on either on an individual basis, or in a small group (2-3 trainees). Both individual and small group supervision is conducted on a 1-4 weekly schedule (or other schedule as per trainees’ requirements) and conducted via the videoconferencing over the internet (Zoom.us).

For each meeting, the trainee uploads a video recording of a treatment session from your practice where you apply ISTDP, to a secure, file storage website (you will receive the link and password for this before supervision commences).

In small group supervision, the supervisor (Steve Arthey) provides 30 minutes of direct supervision of your video recorded therapy session. The other supervisees participate primarily as observers during that time. In each small group supervision meeting, each trainee receives 30 minutes of direct supervision and 60 minutes of indirect, or observational supervision.

In individual supervision, the process is the same as above (but without observers!). Meetings are either 30 or 60 minutes duration and multiple video recordings can be uploaded for supervision, time permitting.

You are able to screen record your component of the group supervision. However, you are not permitted to screen record any other trainee’s component of group supervision. You are able to record the entire session in individual supervision.

Detailed information on supervision is available by emailing Steve Arthey via the link below.
